After the use of a good helmet, a chest protector is easily one of the most important things our kids should wear for safety. I know I feel a lot better knowing my boys are wearing one and that they’re well protected if they get carried away while riding their quads.
This Shift Racing Pee-Wee roost deflector is an affordable choice. It has highly durable but still lightweight plastic panels. This protector has foam padding and mesh shoulder lining for extra comfort.
This one size fits all design comes in red, blue, black, or yellow.
Well, Thor has finally released its 2009 model gear. I’ve been looking forward to getting a look at the new range.
Thor static pants are full length and designed to go over the boot. Very useful for offroad ATV riding, these pants feature a built in gaiter to help keep out dirt and debris. They also have a zippered pocket on each side of the leg to bring along whatever you need when riding.
They are very durable with their nylon seat panel and triple needle stitching. For comfort, they feature ballistic nylon inner leg panels giving heat resistance and adjustable waist buckle closure. They’re even convertible and can be turned into shorts with zip off legs.
The pants pictured on the right are a green/brown/black camouflage with stars. They’re also available in a wide variety of other colors too.
This is my kind of woman. Sarah Palin drinks beer and bourbon, hunts and fishes, races snowmobiles, raise 5 children, run a governor’s office, and of course rides four wheelers. And apparently she and her husband owned a snowmobile, watercraft, and ATV business from 1994-97.
Sounds like she’d make a very interesting VP. Should be a very interesting race.
Yamaha Motor Corp has finally announced the long awaited 2009 YFZ450R at its national dealer meeting in Las Vegas. This beautiful machine was built for high performance and boasts numerous improvements over previous models.
The new 450R is almost three inches wider overall than the YFZ450 and the stance on this one motocross-ready. Made from lightweight aluminum, the frame allows the engine to sit lower for great mass centralization.
The YFZ450R’s features design improvements that make this ATV more comfortable. It’s made to be much roomier and has lots of space to hang off in the corners. Riders can choose their favorite position with the adjustable four position handlebars. Vibrations have also been reduced.
This 449cc engine gives amazing power output.
Detailed specs, photos, and videos can be found at Yamaha’s site.
This is an interesting story. 21 year old John Wipf from Vallyford Washington went missing while riding an ATV near the home of his relatives.
Rescue crews unfortunately called off the official search for on Saturday night. Lucky for Wipf, members of his church and family refused to give up and continued looking for him. They found him at the bottom of a small ravine Sunday afternoon.
Apparently, he was riding down a steep hill and flipped and rolled. He was thrown from the quad and hadn’t moved from the bottom of the hill for four days. He was taken to a hospital and is in serious condition.
He was lucky to have such dedicated friends and family.
Well, we don’t have much longer to wait. Pure, the highly anticipated ATV off-road, trick-racing video game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows will be released on September 23.
PURE was named Best Racing Game of E3 2008 by the Game Critics Awards, Editors’ Choice Award from Official Xbox Magazine (U.S.), Best Driving Game from GameTrailers.com and Best Racing Game on Xbox 360 from IGN.
More recently, the folks at GameXtract had to chance to play the demo. They called it a “Badass ATV Title”. You can read the full review here.
Levi McDermott from Texarkana seems to think so. He was riding his Yamaha Rhino 660 on a gravel parking lot and suffered an injury when he tipped over, trapping his leg under the quad. He’s now filed a lawsuit against Yamaha seeking damages for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, physical disability, lost capacity to enjoy life, loss of wages and earning capacity, mental anguish, and fear.
The suit alleges that the defendants should have known that the Rhino “created life-threatening conditions and situations, including the Rhino’s tendency to roll over in slow-speed turns on flat surfaces.”
The lawsuit alleges that the ATV is defective from a center of gravity that is too high, is too top heavy and has tires that are too small. In addition, the complaint argues the ATV would be safer if the manufacturers would have added diagonal bars, doors or handles, which would have offered consumers additional protection.
James Evans from Fairview, Missouri had to be airlifted to a hospital after losing control of his ATV. Apparently he skidded, ran off the road and the quad landed on him. I hope he’s OK.
He wasn’t wearing a helmet. This proves that you can only tempt fate so far. Eventually your luck will abandon you and you and your family will regret it. Always wear your safety gear.
And I sure hope that I’m spry enough to still be riding at that age.
Little junior won’t have to worry about a bit of bad weather when wearing this coat. The breathable nylon fabric shell and zipper closure are both completely waterproof. That’ll keep em nice and warm, dry and cozy. This is a great jacket for protection from the elements. Off-roading on a fourwheeler has never been more comfortable. Looks great too.
This jacket can be bought in red or blue. Both are very bright and reflective colors so the kids are more visible. Thats a great safety feature.
Other Features
Has rear vents to help expel unwanted heat
Soft fleece lined collar and cut tall for warmth and rain protection
Jacket can be folded into rear pocket and converted into fanny pack. Great self-storage feature.
Inside chest pockets and front hand warmer pockets
